General George Washington

On June 1, 1774, as the Colonies were seeking God's will as to whether they should break ties with England, George Washington made this entry in his  diary:

"Went to church and fasted all day."

On July 2, 1776, from his headquarters in New York, General Washington issued this order:

"The time is now near at hand which must probably determine whether Americans are to be freemen or slaves; whether they are to have any property they can call their own; whether their houses and farms are to be pillaged and destroyed, and themselves consigned to a state of wretchedness from which no human efforts will deliver them."

"The fate of unborn millions will now depend, under God, on the courage of this army. Our cruel and unrelenting enemy leaves us only the choice of brave resistance, or the most abject submission, We have, therefore to resolve to conquer or die."

On July 9, 1776, the Continental Congress authorized the Continental Army to privide chaplains for their troops. General George Washington then issued the order and appointed chaplains in every regiment, On that same day, he issued the general order to his troops, stating:

"The General hopes and trusts that every officer and man, will endeavor so to live, and act, as becomes a Christian Soldier defending the dearest Rights and Liberties of his country."

In 1752, George Washington created a personal prayer book, consisting of 24 pages in his field notebook, in his own handwriting:

WEDNESDAY MORNING ... "Almighty and eternal Lord God, the great Creator of heaven and earth, and the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ; look down from heaven, in pity and compassion upon me Thy servant, who humbly prostrate myself before Thee, sensible of Thy mercy and my own misery ... Help all in affliction or adversity - giver them patience and a sanctified use of their affliction, and in Thy good time, deliverance from them; forgive my enemies, take me unto Thy protection this day, keep me in perfect peace, which I ask in the name and for the sake of Jesus, Amen."

George Washington is attributed with the statement:

"It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible."

Is America A Christian Nation and Why is This Question Important?

As I embark on this subject that has caused so much controversy and turmoil with America, I feel compelled to deal at a very basic level with an even more important question that has in its answer the heart of the reason why not only America, but the entire world are on the brink of utter chaos and self destruction. This most important question is exactly WHY does the name of Jesus Christ and the message of the God of the Holy Bible cause such a violent and bitter reaction from people all around the world...including primarily America?



Explain here how ridiculous it is to say that America is not a Christian nation and that America is great or WAS great because of some other reason. Explain that America is not only a Christian nation, but that God [the God of the Holy Bible] is the reason America reached the pinnacle of civilization.
