Alfred Smith Jr.
Alfred Emanuel "Al" Smith
[Governor of New York and Democratic Presidential candidate in 1928]
was famous for saying, "Let's look at the record." I guess even back in
the 20's politicians had an affinity for rhetoric as opposed to getting
to the truth and this given most Democrats during that time period were
an entirely different animal from
what we see slithering through the Belt Way today. In any
case, I am calling this section of the web site, "Lets Look at the
Record" in honor of Governor Smith and his passion for looking at the
record.
Where the Rubber Meets the Road
It is here you will learn how
to be a disciplined, active force for change in America by becoming the
type of Patriot all politicians despise...an informed and vocal
Constituent! Here you will learn how to find out WHO your
representative in the House and the Senate are? What is their voting
record and are they voting CONSTITUTIONALLY? You will also learn how to
contact your representative and let them know that you are paying
attention to what they are doing. Actually, this is where the rubber
meets the road. I cannot think of one thing the average American
freedom fighter can do that's more important and more effective than
sending our "EMPLOYEES" in Washington the message that We the People
are watching each and every move they make! The reason Washington DC
has taken us down the path to ruin is simply a matter of the average
American not being informed and not being politically active. We have
allowed the elites to have free reign through our apathy. Well, it's
time to really CHANGE things in Washington...and I don't mean Obama's
so called "change." Obama is simply a code word for Hypnotic Fascist
Dictator! I mean it's time to bring about righteous CHANGE and get our
beloved Republic back to where she belongs. It's time to bring
righteous CHANGE that is going to restore our Constitution to its
rightful place as the highest law of the land. It's time to bring
righteous CHANGE that's going to see America prosper as a
Constitutional Republic where freedom loving Americans keep the U.S.
Government under thumb so that We the People can get about the business
of once again living out our "God given rights" to LIFE, LIBERTY and
the PURSUIT of HAPPINESS! That being said...let's begin.
Lets Look At The Record
Most
of the time when we refer to our elected officials, we call them
"Congressmen" or "Senators." Another less used name, but far more
descriptive is "Legislators." I say more descriptive because the bottom
line is that all the elites in Washington are good for is creating laws
that you and I have to live by. The word Legislator according to
Websters Dictionary literally means, "Proposer of a law" or "One that
makes laws especially for a political unit." Basically what it comes
down to is you and I are forced to pay a big chunk of our earnings each
year to a bunch of mobsters who sit around and think up laws they can
pass that will further enslave us. Yes, that's right! When you pay your
taxes, you are actually paying for your own shackles! But I digress...
Now if the main job of our
Legislators is to legislate, then it stands to reason that the best
way, the most accurate way, to see if they are doing a good job or not,
is to see what legislation they are voting for or against. In essence,
the only real way to determine what is rhetoric verses what a
particular Congressman or Senator really supports is to study their
VOTING RECORD. At this juncture, it's
important to understand how you determine what is a good vote and what
is a bad vote. I fear many people in America believe that the answer to
this question is subjective depending on where you stand politically or
something to that effect. However, the answer IS NOT SUBJECTIVE. A good
vote is a vote for legislation that is 100% in line with the U.S.
Constitution. A bad vote is one wherein there is no Constitutional
provision for Congress to legislate in that area. Any Legislative or
Appropriations Bill that goes to the floor of the House or Senate for
vote, absolutely must first pass the Constitution Litmus Test. Is the
proposed legislation Constitutional or not? It's that simple. The
United States Constitution is the highest law of the land. If the
Constitution says the proposed legislation is not something our
government has any business legislating, then that piece of legislation
should get a NO vote from every Senator or Congressman. Truth be told,
any piece of legislation that is not in line with the Constitution
shouldn't even make it past the CLERKS OFFICE for goodness sake! The
clerk should side track the legislation with a note to the legislator
that they cannot legislate in that area! For more information on this
subject, please research Jefferson's Manuel, and House Rules of the House of Representatives that states the following:
(d)
<<NOTE: Sec. 841.
Constitutional authority.>> Each report of a committee on a
public bill or public joint resolution shall contain the following:
(1) A statement citing the specific powers granted to Congress in
the Constitution to enact the law proposed by the bill or joint
resolution.
If our elected officials really
cared about our Constitution and learned what it contained, they
probably wouldn't write 99% of the legislation they seem to get passed
every year! Of course you are now asking yourself, "How will I know if
a piece of legislation passes the Constitutional Litmus Test or not?"
That's where a clear understanding of our Constitution comes in. The
good news is that our beloved Constitution is a very simple document
that has the express purpose of listing exactly those few powers our
government has. Any other power is left to We the People. From here you
can visit the Constitution 101
page for a very basic course in how our Constitution works or you can
remain here for further information on how to check voting records, etc.
Who's my Congress Critter?
First
things first. Before you can check your elected officials voting
record, you need to find out who is representing you in Washington.
Doing this via the internet is simple...
To find out who your Congress person is:
- Go to the U.S. House of Representatives web site.
- Be sure to bookmark this web site.
- See "Find Your Representative" at the top left corner of the page.
- If you have ALL 9 digits of your Zip Code, put them in and click GO.
- If
you know only the 5 digit Zip Code you might get directed to a page
that will have a link to the United States Postal Service.
- If this is the case, click on the USPS link and fill in your full address . It will tell you the full 9 digit Zip Code you need.
- Back at the "Find Your Representative" page enter your 9 digit Zip Code and click Go.
- Your Congress Critter's name will magically appear!
To find out who your Senator(s) is:
- Go to the U.S. Senate web site.
- Be sure to bookmark this web site.
- See "Find Your Senators" at the top right corner of the page.
- Use the radial button and scroll down to your state and click GO.
- Your Senator(s) information will magically appear!
Telephone/Email
Once you find out who your
Legislators actually are and where you can find them on the web through
the sites mentioned above, you can log their contact information into
your contact database or cell phone for quick access should you need to
leave them a polite, but stern voice message. Another good idea is to
get proficient at emailing. I cannot tell you how many times
[especially when there is a critical piece of legislation coming up for
a vote] I have called the Capital Switchboard only to find it is busy.
If I can I do both. I will leave them a voice message and write them an
email as well. The MORE the BETTER! Big numbers speak to these
criminals. REMEMBER - the squeaky wheel gets the grease and politicians
feel only one thing...the pulse of the public and how that's going to
effect them getting reelected. Most "politicians" got where they are by
being the epitome of narcissism and taking rhetoric to a professional
level. This is why they are called "politicians" and not "statesman."
Remember - the only thing that matters to these people is getting
reelected. This is what we have to deal with, if and until, We the
People become strong enough to elect true "statesman."
Earlier I mentioned calling the Capital Switchboard. Please take down the following number:
Capital Switchboard Phone Numbers: 1.202.224.3121 or 1-800-965-4701
These are the main numbers to the United States Capital Switchboard.
When you call these numbers, one of two things will happen...you will
either speak to a real person who will connect you to your legislator's
voice mail or you will get a busy signal. Getting a busy signal is why
writing emails is so effective. They cannot help but get the message!
If you do get to your legislator's voice mail, leave a polite, professional message giving them the following information:
- Your full name.
- City and State you live in.
- What your message is about..."I am calling regarding HR1207, the bill to Audit the Federal Reserve," for example.
- Tell
them what you want them to do..."Please vote to support passage of this
bill because I believe, as I am sure you do as well, that the Federal
Reserve should be transparent to the public."
- Thank them and then hang up.
Another point I want to make is that it is just as important to leave
them a message or write them an email if they do [on rare occasion]
something Constitutional. For example just recently my Senator in
California, Barbara Boxer chose to sign on as a cosponsor to the Senate
version of the Audit the Fed Bill. This was an incredibly good move on
her part and so I wrote her an email and left her a message to that
effect...thanking her for her support of this really good piece of
legislation.
What's my Congress Critter's Voting Record?
As
I stated earlier, the only way to get a handle on what is rhetoric and
what a legislator really supports is to Look At Their Record. Below I
have included step-by-step instructions on how to keep up with your
legislator's activity on the floor of the House and Senate. Remember -
These guys and gals are busy like a bunch of little bees creating new
laws that you and I are going to have to live by! We need to pay
attention to what they are doing! Right?
How do I find my Congressman's Voting Record?
- Go to the Office of the Clerk (U.S. House of Representatives) web site.
- On the left hand side of the page under the title "Roll Call Votes" see the link title: 111th Congress, 1st Session (2009).
- Click on the link and you will see each and every Roll Call Vote for this year. Yes, they have been busy haven't they?
- If
you know the House Bill Number [ex. HR1207], you can go to the line
with that bill number and click the ROLL Number next to that bill to
see how each legislator voted on that piece of legislation. On this
page, by a simple click of the mouse, you can also learn everything you
didn't want to know about whatever piece of legislation you are
interested in. Remember - If it's Unconstitutional, it's a big fat NO!
How do I find my Senator's Voting Record?
- Go to the United States Senate web site.
- On the Red Menu Bar at the top of the page, click on Legislation & Records.
- On the left hand side click the top link labeled Votes.
- See a column located half way down on the left labeled Roll Call Tables, click on the top link for 2009 (111th, 1st).
- Here you will find all Senate votes for all legislation for the entire year.
- Under
the heading "Issue" find the House Bill number or the Senate Bill
number if there is one and then click the appropriate number under the
first heading labeled "Vote."
- On
this page you can see the link labeled "By Senator Name" which will
take you to the page that shows how each Senator voted on a particular
piece of legislation.
Becoming Experts
I know it sounds a little bit like a maze, but once you get to the page
labeled Votes for instance, you can just bookmark this and bypass all
the previous pages. After a few searches on your own you will become
very adept at getting this critical information quickly. Remember - We
need to become experts at paying attention to what these clowns do.
Freedom is not free and it just so happens right now, at this time in
America's history, your freedom is going to cost you some time and
effort to learn some things and become active in how to pester your
Senator or Congressman. However, we must act quickly now or we may lose
this chance to right the wrongs peacefully.
Federal Reserve Sunshine Act of 2009
At this time, you can put your new found knowledge to work by using the
above steps to call AND write your Senator on probably the most
important bill currently working it's way through the process. Please politely ask your Senator to COSPONSOR Senate Bill S.604 Federal Reserve Sunshine Act of 2009.
This particular bill [Introduced by Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont] is
the Senate companion bill to HR.1207 introduced by Ron Paul of Texas.
Currently the House version has a total of 280 Co-sponsors. However, it
is critical for a free America to get more Senators on board with the
Senate version. What this bill is designed to do is FORCE the
Comptroller of the United States to perform a complete audit of the
Private Banking Cartel we know as the FEDERAL RESERVE! If this actually
goes through and the audit is done, there is a good chance the truth
about this evil banking cartel will be exposed for the first time since
its inception way back in 1913. For a more detailed look at the Federal
Reserve please go to the Federal Reserve Scam
portion of this web site. However, at this point I think it prudent to
begin your journey in gaining a basic understanding of our true system
of government. Please go to the Constitution 101 page and begin learning what makes America the greatest country on earth.
